Transparency is essential

At TER Chemicals, we acknowledge that climate change poses one of the most significant challenges of our time. That's why we're committed to taking meaningful action to make our business more sustainable for both people and the planet. For three years in a row, we have measured our emissions and disclosed our Corporate Carbon Footprint.

TER Chemicals communicates its Corporate Carbon Footprint

By adhering to high standards such as GHG Protocol-compliant carbon accounting, the company ensures accuracy and reliability. Both in its own operations and in its supply chain, TER Chemicals is committed to improving data quality and reducing emissions. In 2023, we have extended our scope with the inclusion of our units in the USA as well as further improved the data quality in Scope 3 (activities from assets not owned or controlled by the reporting organization).

Thanks to comprehensive data collection and validation, we report that our company emitted 669 tons of CO₂ in Scopes 1 and 2, and 118.448 tons in Scope 3. We significantly reduced Scope 2 emissions to 12.9 tons of CO₂, down from 37.2 tons in 2022. However, Scope 1 emissions increased due to the addition of two entities and higher fuel consumption. We continue to strive to take new measures to further reduce emissions and improve data quality in Scope 3.

Emission reduction measures and results

In 2023, we took a major step forward in our sustainability journey by transitioning to 100% green electricity in all our entities. This measure not only helps mitigate climate change, but also fosters the growth of renewable energy sources, paving the way for a cleaner future.

This transition has helped to reduce our Scope 2 emissions by 65%. We continue to look for opportunities to further reduce our emissions e.g. in fuel consumption, logistics, and assess overall climate impact through transparency of our products' carbon footprints. Together with our business partners, we work towards environmental challenges in the supply chain.

Project to offsetting residual emissions

TER Chemicals takes responsibility for the unavoidable emissions from its operations and is committed to offsetting Scope 1 and 2 emissions. In line with this commitment, we have offset the emissions generated in 2023 by supporting a renewable energy project - a hydroelectric power plant in the state of Uttaranchal, India. This pioneering initiative is poised to displace a significant amount of fossil fuel generated electricity, resulting in the avoidance of nearly 1.5 million tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

The selection of this project aligns closely with our sustainability objectives and values, as it not only generates environmental benefits, but also contributes to several of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

TER Chemicals is proud to take responsibility and actively contribute to a more sustainable future. Our work in this area is in line with global environmental goals and demonstrates our commitment to social responsibility and corporate sustainability.
